A notorious burglar wanted in four states was arrested by the Jubilee Hills police in Hyderabad. The burglar, known as Robinhood Ujwal, had checked into a lodge in the city and was apprehended at the Yousufguda check post. The arrested burglar, Mohammed Irfan alias Robinhood Ujwal, is accused in four cases in Delhi, four in Hyderabad, and seven in Bangalore. The police found screwdrivers, a Wifi dongle, a smartphone, a hoodie, and a monkey cap in his possession.
Irfan had been clever in avoiding areas with CCTV cameras and did not use a cellphone or sandals to avoid detection. He preferred to steal from other states and help the poor in his hometown, as the people there are economically backward. Irfan checked into the Meridian Golden Lodge at Lakdikapul on December 8 and conducted surveillance at Road No 45. He then broke into the house of Dhruva Anurag Reddy, a private employee in Jubilee Hills, stole a gold chain and a bag containing Rs 5 lakh, and fled to Mumbai. Despite checking footage from 75 cameras, the police could not locate him.
During his burglaries, Irfan would carefully monitor CCTV cameras and move from one house to another. He would also steal an expensive car to use for the theft, in order to avoid suspicion. Irfan gained fame as ‘Robinhood Ujwal’ for spending most of the stolen money on poor students and farmers in his village. The villagers named him Ujwal after he used the stolen money to install electricity poles in the village. His specialty was stealing cash, gold, and diamonds.
