Nalgonda: Civil Supplies Principal Secretary and Commissioner, DS Chauhan, emphasized the importance of rice millers’ cooperation in the new policy introduced by the state government for paddy procurement and milling rice (CMR). On Tuesday, he held a meeting with the District Rice Millers Association at Udayaditya Bhavan, located in the Nalgonda District Collector’s Office.
Chauhan mentioned that the government aims to supply fine rice to the 2.8 crore ration cardholders in the state. He stressed that officials and millers must work diligently to meet this goal.
He also noted that Nalgonda district has been performing well in completing the milling of rice from both Kharif and Rabi seasons. So far, 99% of Kharif and 75% of Rabi CMR (Custom Milled Rice) have been completed. He encouraged the millers to finish the remaining work.
Anita Ramachandran, the Principal Secretary of the Rural Development Department and Nodal Officer for paddy procurement in Nalgonda district, requested that the procurement process go smoothly without causing any trouble to farmers.
During the meeting, District Millers Association President Narayana asked for the Out Turn Ratio (OTR) to be determined for fine varieties of rice. He also urged the government to release pending milling charges and to allocate CMR to 33 mills that have minor payment issues, to prevent them from being labeled as “defaulted.”
Miryalaguda Rice Millers Association President, Srinivas, suggested that if determining the OTR is not possible, the government should consider offering incentives. He also requested the release of all previously pending payments and promised timely delivery of both boiled and raw rice CMR with the government’s support.
