The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has listed Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy as the eighth accused in the murder case of his uncle, former Andhra Pradesh minister YS Vivekananda Reddy. Avinash Reddy was questioned by the CBI for seven hours on June 10 at its regional office in Hyderabad. He was granted anticipatory bail by the Telangana High Court on May 31 but was arrested on June 3 and released on the same day after completing formalities. He must appear before the CBI every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until June 2023.

Vivekananda Reddy was murdered at his residence in Pulivendula on March 15, 2019, just before the elections. The CBI has claimed that Avinash Reddy and his father had a role in causing the disappearance of evidence and are trying to influence witnesses.
