Hyderabad — A tragic fire at Gulzar Houz in the Old City of Hyderabad claimed the lives of 17 people, prompting swift action from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
The Chief Minister has called for a detailed investigation to uncover the exact cause of the blaze. He emphasized the importance of taking strong steps to prevent similar accidents in the future. He also stressed the need to raise public awareness about fire safety.
Revanth Reddy expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and offered heartfelt condolences to the families of those who died. He promised full support from the Telangana State Government and assured the victims’ families that they would not be left alone during this difficult time.
As soon as he was informed about the incident, the Chief Minister contacted top officials from the Fire Services Department and Police. He kept a close watch on the rescue efforts and directed city ministers and senior officials to reach the site without delay. Their focus was to ensure the injured received immediate and high-quality medical care.
Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and Inspector General Nagi Reddy gave the CM updates on the condition of the injured. Under his instructions, the victims were shifted to nearby hospitals for better treatment. The Chief Minister also personally spoke with the families of the deceased to offer his condolences and support.
The government has already announced an ex-gratia payment of ₹5 lakh to each of the affected families.
Revanth Reddy praised the firefighters for their quick and brave actions. Thanks to their efforts, around 40 people were rescued from the burning building, preventing an even greater tragedy.
The incident has raised serious concerns about fire safety in densely populated areas. The state government is expected to implement stronger safety guidelines and checks to prevent such disasters in the future.
