New Delhi / Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced that local elections will not occur before the end of September. The government has not decided on the elections due to waiting for the union government’s approval of a 42% BC quota. In a chat with journalists, the Chief Minister confirmed that local body elections would not take place by September 30.
The Supreme Court has given the President three months to approve the bills. “We are waiting for a response from the President of India,” he stated. Regarding the disqualification of defected BRS MLAs, he mentioned that the Assembly Speaker would decide, though there are no clear directives for action.
Revanth Reddy criticized the union government for not initiating a CBI investigation into the Kaleshwaram project, despite the state’s request. He accused disputes over power and property within the KCR family of damaging Kavitha’s political career.
Reddy claimed that KCR, KTR, Harish Rao, and Santosh plotted against Kavitha to remove her from the party. He denied any involvement in the KCR family disputes.
Discussing the phone tapping case, the Chief Minister said they considered handing it over to the CBI, but a related case is still in the High Court. He clarified that he made no remarks about a meeting between KTR and AP Minister Nara Lokesh.
He criticized KTR for attacking TDP workers during their protest against Chandrababu Naidu’s arrest.
In response to a question, the Chief Minister noted that L&T has not informed the state government about financial issues in maintaining the Hyderabad Metro Rail. He blamed former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for the crisis.
