Hyderabad: On Sunday, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy unexpectedly visited areas in Ameerpet affected by flooding. He instructed officials to address flooding issues and criticized the GHMC and HYDRAA for their lack of coordination during ongoing rains.
Accompanied by various department officials, Revanth Reddy toured Ameerpet, Buddha Nagar, and Maitri Vanam. In Buddha Nagar, he examined the drainage system and urged officials to make necessary improvements. He observed that the drainage canal was elevated compared to the narrow Colony Road, worsening the flood flow. He demanded immediate adjustments to the drainage to ensure smooth water flow.
Residents complained about individuals filling Gangubai Basti Kunta for parking. Revanth Reddy inspected the area and suggested several actions. He instructed officials to implement a permanent solution by installing a special trunk line and preparing urgent plans. At Maitri Vanam, where floodwaters had recently receded, he called for a lasting solution.
A neighborhood boy, Jaswant, shared his experience with the Chief Minister, explaining how floodwaters damaged his house and books. Revanth Reddy assured him of a permanent fix to prevent future flooding issues.
“I made surprise visits to Balkampet, Buddhanagar, Gangubai Basti, and Maitrivanam,” Revanth Reddy stated. He emphasized the importance of taking measures to prevent flooding during heavy rains. He personally spoke to residents about their problems and concerns.
