Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has asked officials to design a dry port that will meet the state’s transport and infrastructure needs for the next 100 years. He said the port should be built close to the upcoming Regional Ring Road (RRR) to improve connectivity and support industrial development.

The Chief Minister held a high-level meeting to review the progress of national highway projects and the RRR. He said the dry port should be developed with a long-term plan and serve as a major trade and transportation center.

During the meeting, they also discussed the Hyderabad–Vijayawada Greenfield Highway. This project gained attention after recent talks between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh officials in Delhi. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs suggested both states approve the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR). CM Reddy told his team to prioritize this project.

He also instructed officials to speed up the land acquisition process for the northern part of the RRR and complete the consultancy report for the southern part as soon as possible. In addition, he proposed a new national highway connecting Hyderabad to Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, and asked for this proposal to be sent to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

CM Reddy also called for plans for a new highway from Hyderabad to Mancherial. He reviewed problems slowing down land acquisition for other projects. Officials said that crops growing on the land were causing delays, and NHAI was not willing to pay for the crop losses.

To solve this, the Chief Minister told officials to speak with farmers right away, since the harvest season is almost over. He also asked the state’s Chief Secretary, Shanti Kumari, to work closely with district collectors to fix any legal or technical problems.

He stressed the importance of developing radial roads that connect the Outer Ring Road (ORR) to the RRR, and expanding roads from the RRR to the edges of Telangana.

The meeting was attended by the Chief Minister’s advisor Vem Narender Reddy, Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari, and senior officials from the Roads and Buildings Department.

With these steps, CM Revanth Reddy is laying out a bold plan to improve Telangana’s road network and boost economic growth through better transport and logistics.
