Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy promised full support for creators of medical products using biodesign. He spoke at the Biodesign Innovation Summit at AIG Hospitals on Sunday, highlighting that Telangana is ideal for innovators amid global uncertainties like taxes and trade barriers.
Hyderabad has evolved from a manufacturing hub to a center of innovation in biotech, pharma, and medical technology. The Chief Minister pledged comprehensive support for biodesign-based medical product innovation with active involvement from the state government.
Biodesign focuses on transforming unmet clinical needs into effective healthcare solutions, including creating, validating, and manufacturing devices. Hyderabad boasts a strong mix of academic institutions, skill development, and industry partnerships, producing a capable workforce.
The Chief Minister encouraged local innovation to address India’s medical needs. He ensured innovators and researchers would access Telangana’s medical data, adhering to privacy laws. “We will connect you with academic institutions, research bodies, the Young India Skills University, and corporations,” he noted, urging local talent to address domestic challenges.
Telangana has emerged as a key player in India’s Life Sciences sector. Medical devices and technology are vital for the state, with investments in diagnostic devices, imaging technologies, implants, surgical tools, and digital health. The Chief Minister projected the state’s economy to reach $1 trillion by 2034 and $3 trillion by 2047.
The state houses India’s largest Medical Devices Park in Sultanpur, hosting over 60 companies globally and domestically. It offers top-notch infrastructure for research, testing, and manufacturing. The Chief Minister praised local startups and companies for their contributions to this vibrant ecosystem. He also commended AIG Hospitals Chairman Dr. Nageshwar Reddy for advancing medtech research through biodesign initiatives.
