Gadwal: District Collector B.M. Santosh, along with local MLA Bandla Krishnamohan Reddy, visited the flood-affected villages of Chinnonipalli in Gattu mandal and Nagar Doddi in Dharur mandal on Wednesday.
During a meeting with the villagers, the Collector promised that each of the 250 affected residents would receive compensation of Rs 16,500 within a week. He encouraged all displaced people to move to the rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) center as soon as possible. He also assured them that within two months, a school and an Anganwadi center would be built at the R&R center. Basic facilities like roads, drinking water, and electricity would be restored within two days.
The Collector also guaranteed that meals, health camps, and medical care would be provided at the R&R center. He personally inspected the damaged houses and reassured the residents that the government was doing everything it could to help them and rebuild the villages. He instructed officials to speed up work at the R&R center in Nagar Doddi.
MLA Bandla Krishnamohan Reddy acknowledged that the villagers might face some difficulties due to the project, but he emphasized that the benefits would be significant in the future. The project, he explained, would help prevent migration by providing irrigation and drinking water to the Palamuru district. This would turn the area into a hub for workers from other states. He also mentioned that delays in Chinnonipalli’s project work were due to contractor negligence. However, he assured that over the next six months, compensation, housing, relocation costs, and financial assistance would be provided to everyone.
Others present during the visit included RDO Ramachander, irrigation EE Raheemuddin, electricity SE Bhaskar, Mission Bhagiratha EE Sridhar Reddy, and tahsildar Saritha Rani.
