Gadwal: District Collector B.M. Santhosh called on education officials to boost student enrollment in government schools this year. These directions came during a meeting with Mandal Education Officers at the IDOC Conference Hall on Thursday.
In the meeting, the Collector reviewed the progress and changes in the education sector compared to last year. He provided guidelines based on his findings.
The Collector pointed out improvements in government schools, such as better infrastructure, higher student pass rates, more teachers, and free uniforms and textbooks provided by the state. He urged officials to visit homes to persuade parents and students to choose government schools.
He insisted on ensuring full attendance of teachers and students in all government schools. Mandal Education Officers were asked to update and submit reports on the Badibata enrollment drive.
The Collector proposed reopening four primary schools in villages with no students: Putanpalli, Baswapur, Mirjapur, and Edulagudem. He directed that every student’s Aadhaar number be registered in UDISE+ and APAR IDs be created promptly.
For Aadhaar issues, he advised officers to work with EDMs for quick registration and corrections. He also emphasized following the prescribed menu for nutritious meals under the Mid-Day Meal Scheme.
For students who passed Class 10, the Collector instructed the Intermediate Officer to ensure their enrollment in government junior colleges.
Special focus was placed on adult women’s literacy. The Collector recommended organizing special classes through the “Ullas” program for universal education. He encouraged using Telangana Open School Society (TOSS) programs and collaborating with self-help groups to enhance village literacy.
District Intermediate Officer Hriday Raju, along with Mandal Education Officers and district coordinators, attended the meeting.
