Gadwal District is focusing on speeding up the construction of Indiramma houses. District Collector B.M. Santosh has instructed officials to show dedication and urgency in their work.
At a meeting on Friday in the IDOC Conference Hall, the Collector reviewed the housing scheme’s progress. Although 7,000 houses have been approved, only 543 have reached the basement stage. He expressed concern over this slow progress and warned against any negligence. Actions will be taken against those who do not improve their performance.
The Collector aims for the district to rank among the top 10 in the state for the housing scheme. Panchayat Secretaries, Assistant Engineers, and Ward Officers must visit sites, track progress, and encourage beneficiaries to speed up construction. They must also mark house sites, start basement work, and share photos regularly. Updates on construction progress are required for transparency and monitoring.
Starting Monday, all mandals will have access to the necessary sand and soil to prevent material shortages. Municipal towns and Gram Panchayats need to register beneficiaries online on the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin portal.
Additional topics included the Vanamahotsavam campaign, where the Collector urged for collective efforts to plant trees. Officials received specific tasks to ensure plantations are completed in Municipal and Gram Panchayat areas.
With the rains, maintaining public hygiene is crucial to prevent diseases. Officials should ensure roads are free of standing water to stop mosquitoes from breeding.
The meeting was attended by Additional Collector Narsing Rao, Special Deputy Collector Srinivasa Rao, AD Mines Venkata Ramana, Housing PD Kashinath, and other officials. This meeting underscores the administration’s focus on affordable housing and public health through effective governance and responsibility.
