Gadwal: Today, a group made up of different political parties, the District Child Rights Protection Forum, and the Mothers’ Committee approached the District Collector. They asked for quick action to fix the serious lack of teachers in government schools in Jogulamba Gadwal district.

The group described how education in the area is in poor shape. They noted that the district is among the least educated in both the state and the country. KT Doddi and Gattu mandals are especially in trouble, with very low literacy rates. The committee’s report shows KT Doddi needs at least 100 teachers, and Gattu is missing over 80. Across the district, about 1,500 teachers are needed.

They worried that despite efforts to support public education, government schools are short-staffed. This situation is pushing parents toward private schools, which are rapidly increasing and charging high fees. The group highlighted the lack of regulation and poor enforcement of the Right to Education Act. They stated that the required 25% reservation for underprivileged children is not being properly applied.

The committee also pointed out that many schools have poor infrastructure. Schools are often managed by temporary DEOs due to administrative gaps. The lack of teachers and facilities discourages students from attending public schools, particularly in rural and tribal regions.

    Key Demands:

    1. Hire teachers immediately based on the number of students in each government school in Jogulamba Gadwal.

    2. Reopen schools with only one teacher that were closed due to low student numbers.

    3. If hiring regular teachers is not possible soon, use Educational Volunteers to fill in and keep education going.

The group warned that delaying action could worsen the education crisis and infringe on children’s rights to education.

The representation was led by notable figures like Nagaradoddi Venkata Ramulu, Chakali Anjaneyulu, Auto Maqbool, Macherla Prakash, CPM Venkataswamy, Atikur Rahiman, Mohan Rao, Shankar Prabhakar, Dandora Anjaneyulu, SP Hanumanthu, Nandinne Veeranna, Animireddy, Chinnapadu Anjaneyulu, Elkooru Bhaskar, Sai Kumar, and Jayanna. Student leaders and youth activists such as Younus, Thirmal, Chandu Pasha, Savita, and Rajeshwari also took part, showing widespread concern for the district’s educational future.

The committee urged the district authorities and the state government to act quickly, ensuring that every child in Jogulamba Gadwal receives a fair and quality education without further delay.
