Hyderabad: The Foot Over Bridge (FOB) at Nampally Railway Station has been closed for the past six years, making it difficult for daily commuters to travel comfortably. Frustrated by the long-standing issue, some local residents have requested the South Central Railway (SCR) to build a new, modern FOB.
The old iron foot over bridge, which connected Red Hills to Public Gardens in Nampally, was shut down by SCR six years ago because it was in poor condition. This has caused a lot of inconvenience for many people who used the bridge regularly. The bridge was an important link for daily passengers, walkers, senior citizens, women, and children who visit Public Gardens for walks. It was also used by those who take buses and access the Assembly Metro Station to commute to work or school. Since its closure, many have had to take longer, less convenient routes.
In response to the problem, locals and daily passengers have decided to start a signature campaign. So far, around 1,500 signatures have been collected. Once enough signatures are gathered, they plan to submit them to the SCR officials, urging them to take action.
Mohammed Abid Ali, a local resident, shared his thoughts. He explained that the closure of the bridge has forced people to take longer routes, causing difficulties. He believes that building a new, modern foot over bridge would not only make commuting safer and more convenient but also improve the overall infrastructure of the area. Additionally, it would benefit the health and well-being of walkers and residents who depend on this route for their daily activities.
