Hyderabad: As redevelopment work continues at several railway stations in the city, including Secunderabad, the railways have stopped the halt of some express trains at Moulali station. One of these is the Satavahana Express, which has now been diverted to Kacheguda. This change is causing problems for passengers who previously boarded at Moulali.
Starting from April 15, train number 12713/14, the Satavahana Express, no longer stops at Moulali and instead passes through Malkajgiri without stopping. Passengers now have to travel to Kacheguda or Charlapalli stations to catch the train, making the journey more difficult. Similarly, the Krishna Express has also been diverted from Secunderabad to Charlapalli, creating inconvenience for many residents.
In response, the Train Travellers Association submitted a request on Wednesday. They asked the railways to add a stop for the Satavahana Express at Malkajgiri and for train number 17405/06 at Dayanand Nagar East. They also requested changing the terminal for train number 17023/24 from Tungabhadra to Bolarum. The association pointed out that around 60 trains have recently been rerouted to avoid Secunderabad station during the development work.
The members suggested that, once the construction is completed, it would help if a few express trains could stop at Malkajgiri and Dayanand Nagar to make travel easier for passengers.
Noor, the general secretary of the Suburban Train & Bus Travellers Association, said that since many trains are being diverted from Secunderabad to other stations, it would be helpful if the South Central Railway (SCR) introduced more MMTS (local) trains from Charlapalli to different parts of the twin cities. This would make it easier for passengers to reach the new boarding points.
