Hyderabad: Former MLA Dr. Prabhakar held a press conference on Wednesday where he criticized the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. He claimed that many Congress MLAs have lost trust in Reddy’s leadership. According to Prabhakar, the Chief Minister’s own statements at a Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting showed his frustration with the current state of the government.
Prabhakar pointed out that ministers are not working together and are making individual statements, which shows a lack of unity. He also said that the state’s economic condition is very poor, with problems in law enforcement, welfare programs, and general administration.
He mentioned that the Chief Minister admitted that many Congress MLAs are not staying in touch with people in their areas, are not spreading awareness about government schemes, and are not responding properly to criticism from the opposition. Prabhakar believes this shows that Revanth Reddy is unsure of his leadership role and has lost confidence in his party’s team.
He criticized the Congress cabinet for not working with “collective responsibility,” especially on issues related to Hyderabad Central University (HCU). He also accused a minister of using the Rythu Bandhu scheme for political gain, which, according to him, weakens the unity of the cabinet.
Prabhakar said Telangana is in a serious crisis, especially financially. He mocked the idea of selling beer and land to raise money, saying it shows how the Congress government has failed. He also took issue with the Chief Minister’s comments on cabinet expansion, where Reddy said the party high command is handling appointments. Prabhakar said this shows a bigger constitutional and political problem.
He urged the Chief Minister to take charge and fulfill his duties as required by the Constitution. If not, he warned, it could lead to a constitutional crisis. Prabhakar also highlighted issues like the delay in local elections, empty state funds, and the government’s dependence on selling land as signs of a worsening economic situation.
Prabhakar raised concerns about a rise in crimes such as rape and suicides since the Congress took power. He said welfare programs have become weak, with many only announced in press releases without real action. He believes the government is in crisis and called on the Governor to step in and take notice.
Finally, he suggested forming a ‘Group of Ministers’ to take care of important matters. However, he criticized the current group for focusing more on political power games than on solving issues. He also accused AICC observer Meenakshi Natarajan of acting beyond her authority and making negative remarks about the government.
