As part of the “Swachhata Hi Seva” initiative, the Jnana Vikas Bharati voluntary service organization, in collaboration with the Clay Ganesh Promotion Festival Committee, distributed clay Ganesh idols for free to devotees in Nagarkurnool. This was done following the call from the central and state governments. Dr. Srinivasulu, the president of Jnana Vikas Bharati, explained that the event aimed to promote environmental protection and the preservation of Hindu traditions and culture. He encouraged everyone to worship clay Ganesh idols as a way to care for the environment.
Dr. Srinivasulu also shared an important tip for after the Ganesh festival. He advised that immersing the clay idols in a household’s Tulsi plant pit or flowerpot can enrich the soil with nutrients, which helps the plants grow. Additionally, the ingredients used during the Ganesh puja act as natural pesticides when added to the soil, protecting plants from diseases.
The Vice President of Jnana Vikas Bharati, Soma Pragathi Goud, pointed out the dangers of using chemically made plaster of Paris idols. When these idols are immersed in water bodies, the dissolving colors pollute the water. This not only harms aquatic life but can also spread diseases, some of which may affect humans.
Many people attended this event, including General Secretary Sudha Rani, Brahmachari, Surender, Jyothi Goud, Sunandachari, Jayaprakash Narayana Chari, Hemalatha Goud, Supraja Goud, councilors Kotha Srinivasulu, Palamuru Yadayya, and numerous devotees.
