The Congress party has accused the government of using the upcoming G20 meeting in India as an election campaign to distract people from real issues. The G20 Leaders’ Summit is set to take place on September 9-10 at the Bharat Mandapam International Exhibition-Convention Centre. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh stated that the G20 was established in 1999 with 19 countries and the European Union as members. He noted that the summit has been held in 17 different countries, and now it is India’s turn. However, Ramesh criticized the election-like atmosphere and efforts to divert attention from important matters.
