Hyderabad: Malkajgiri MP Eatala Rajender has criticized the Congress party, urging it to think carefully before making election promises. He asked the Telangana Chief Minister not to sell government and university lands, warning that doing so would affect children’s education.
During a press conference in Delhi on Friday, Eatala spoke about the ongoing land sale controversy. He recalled how former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy once planned to sell land to raise Rs 12,000 crore, and said that he and others had opposed this move in the Assembly when they were fighting for a separate Telangana state.
Eatala raised concerns about pollution in local ponds and the loss of parks and open spaces, questioning how the government plans to develop the state without protecting the environment. He said that instead of selling land for real estate projects, the government should use it to build factories and institutes that create jobs.
He also denied accusations made against the BJP, inviting people to visit the Kancha Gachibowli area to see the natural greenery and bird life still present there.
Eatala said that efforts are ongoing to meet with Union Ministers to push for development in his constituency. He mentioned that the MMTS railway station at Suchitra has become deserted because a nearby route was closed due to its location next to military land. He has requested the construction of a new road in that area and discussed the matter with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
He pointed out that problems with Railway Under Bridges (RUBs) and Over Bridges (ROBs) are causing serious delays for daily commuters. He said he spoke with the Railway Minister about these concerns, who promised to resolve them soon.
Eatala also said that the Vande Bharat train does not stop anywhere in the Adilabad parliamentary area, and he has asked for a stop to be included. He noted that the Cherlapalli Railway Terminal has been opened under the Railway Ministry, and additional train stops have been requested and approved.
He highlighted how water in local ponds used to be clean but now smells bad due to pollution. Because the State Government has not provided enough funds, the central government has allocated Rs 133 crore under the Jal Shakti Mission to improve drainage systems and drinking water and to prevent dirty water from flowing into these ponds.
Finally, he said they have requested the Jal Shakti Minister to make sure these funds are used properly. He added that under the Swachh Bharat initiative, the central government is giving direct funds to fast-growing cities to help with development.
