Hyderabad: The Congress, along with Left parties and Telangana Jana Samithi, plans to form an alliance for the upcoming local body elections. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has already met with these potential partners to discuss a united front for the elections. The state cabinet will discuss this alliance strategy and local body elections on Thursday.
Last week, the Chief Minister held discussions with leaders from the CPI, CPM, and Telangana Jana Samithi. He stressed the importance of working together to win more local bodies in the elections.
The Chief Minister assessed the Congress and Left parties’ strengths in various districts, highlighting the Left’s potential to boost Congress’s influence in Khammam, Nalgonda, Karimnagar, and parts of Medak and Rangareddy.
CPI MLA K Sambashiva Rao and other senior Left leaders shared their thoughts on the alliance’s chances in the local elections. They also discussed the challenges Congress faces against the opposition BRS.
The meetings focused on strategies for the important municipal elections. Sources indicate that Left parties are open to negotiation with district Congress leaders on seat distribution for municipal and Zilla Parishad elections. A meeting between alliance leaders is expected after the State Election Commission announces the election notification and schedule.
