Hyderabad: The Congress party in Telangana is planning to appoint special observers, following a model used in Gujarat. These observers will come from both the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC).
As part of a new campaign called ‘Sanghatan Srujan Abhiyan’, the observers will help choose and appoint new presidents for the District Congress Committees (DCCs). This decision was made during a series of review meetings held at Gandhi Bhavan.
AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan attended the meetings as the chief guest, while PCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud led the discussions. They decided to follow Gujarat’s example, where four PCC observers and one AICC observer were recently appointed to oversee similar work. AICC secretaries will help coordinate these efforts.
During the meetings, Meenakshi Natarajan expressed concern that some party members who were given important roles had become inactive in public life. She urged the party workers to start preparing for the upcoming elections and stay connected with the people.
In another part of the meeting, Congress leader Feroz Khan raised an important issue. He asked Meenakshi Natarajan to explain the party’s position on the AIMIM party. He was concerned that the Congress leadership in the state was being too friendly with AIMIM, even though local Congress leaders were facing legal trouble for opposing them.
In response, Meenakshi Natarajan said that the party’s stand on AIMIM is the same as Rahul Gandhi’s. She made it clear that there has been no change in the Congress party’s approach towards AIMIM.
