In a major operation against drug trafficking, the Cyberabad Special Operations Team (SOT) and Dundigal Police arrested two suspects. They were caught transporting 86 kilograms of dry ganja from Berhampur, Odisha, to Delhi, passing through Telangana. The police operation, carried out on September 20, 2024, resulted in the seizure of the drugs and a Honda City car. The total value of the seized items is estimated to be over ₹33 lakh.
The police stopped a silver Honda City car (registration number OR 05 X 2004) near ORR Exit No. 05 in Dundigal. They were acting on specific intelligence about the drug trafficking operation. Inside the car, officers found Sunindra Kumar Singh, a 25-year-old male peddler, and Laxmi, a 30-year-old female transporter. Both suspects are from Odisha.
Upon further investigation, authorities discovered that Sunindra Kumar Singh, who lives in Khrishtian Sahi Colony in Gajapati District, had been involved in two previous criminal cases, including a drug-related offense. Laxmi was hired to pose as Singh’s wife to avoid raising suspicion during their journey.
The police explained that Singh’s vehicle had been modified with secret compartments to hide the ganja packets. The suspects were following instructions from an absconding main supplier named Raju, who is based in Berhampur. Raju had directed Singh on how to hide the drugs in the car. The illicit cargo was intended for delivery to Amit Agarwal, a resident of Delhi, who is also currently evading arrest.
During the operation, authorities seized 86 kilograms of dry ganja, worth around ₹30,10,000. They also confiscated the Honda City car, valued at ₹3,00,000, along with two mobile phones worth ₹10,000, and cash totaling ₹1,710. The total value of the seized items is ₹33,21,710.
The operation was led by top police officials, including Commissioner of Police Avinash Mohanty, DCP N. Koti Reddy, and DCP D. Srinivas, who commended the police team for their successful efforts in the case.
Following this incident, the Cyberabad Police have urged the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking.
