Daifuku Launches Rs 2.27 Billion Automation Plant in Hyderabad

Daifuku Intralogistics India Pvt. Ltd., a part of the Japanese company Daifuku Co., Ltd., has opened a new manufacturing facility in Hyderabad. The plant was built with an investment of Rs 2.27 billion and aims to meet the growing demand for automation and material handling in India.

The new facility will create more than 100 skilled jobs in its first phase. It will make advanced intralogistics systems for industries like e-commerce, automotive, pharmaceuticals, and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG).

Daifuku’s CEO, Hiroshi Geshiro, said that India is an important market for the company. He explained that the new plant is part of their long-term plan and supports the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

Srinivas Garimella, Chairman of Daifuku Intralogistics India, said the investment shows the company’s dedication to innovation, skill development, and sustainability. He added that the company wants to blend local talent with global knowledge.

CEO Asim Behera said the new facility will help provide scalable and future-ready solutions. He also mentioned that it will help make Hyderabad a major center for automation in India. “We are investing in both technology and people,” he said.

Daifuku also plans to work with Indian research institutes to develop new technologies and promote eco-friendly practices. This supports India’s goal of building a self-reliant manufacturing sector.

India’s logistics industry is expected to grow to over USD 650 billion by 2030. Daifuku hopes its new Hyderabad unit will help boost this growth through local manufacturing and the use of automation.

Daifuku is based in Osaka, Japan, and operates in 24 countries. The Hyderabad-based company was started in 1999 and became part of Daifuku in 2019. It designs custom intralogistics systems for different industries in India.
