Hyderabad: Minister C. Damodar Raja Narsimha assured on Friday that no injustice will be done to anyone living near the Musi River. He criticized opposition parties for politicizing the Musi Rejuvenation project.
Speaking at a press conference, the minister emphasized the importance of protecting the Musi River and preserving nature. He said that it is the responsibility of all governments to safeguard rivers and ponds, and that politics should not be involved in such matters.
Raja Narsimha reminded everyone that the Musi River Development Corporation was set up in 2016 by a government order. The previous government also set the boundaries of the Musi River and made plans to provide double-bedroom houses and a rehabilitation package for families affected by the project.
The minister questioned why the opposition is raising political issues now, even though the previous government had already taken steps regarding the project. He emphasized that the current government, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, is committed to caring for every affected family.
Raja Narsimha also pointed out that development takes time and cannot happen overnight. He reassured that the government is responsible for providing rehabilitation, and efforts are ongoing under the leadership of the Chief Minister.
The minister further discussed the challenges faced by people during the Mallannasagar project, where 14 villages were submerged. He raised concerns about the treatment of affected individuals, who were subjected to police action during land acquisition. He noted that while the UPA government had introduced a land acquisition law in 2013, the BRS government did not implement it. He concluded by reiterating that the government will ensure proper rehabilitation for those living near the Musi River.
