DCA confiscates medications for violating MRP regulations

The Telangana State Drugs Control Administration (DCA) seized the medicine ‘Itrakam-200 Capsules’ from a store in Hayathnagar, Rangareddy district for violating Maximum Retail Price (MRP) regulations during a raid.

The product ‘Itrakam-200 Capsules’ is Itraconazole capsules 200 mg sold under price control rules set by the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA).

The capsules are made by Impulse Pharma Private Limited MIDC in Maharashtra, with a label showing a MRP of Rs 305 for 10 capsules, which is Rs 57.30 higher than the allowed price.

The Central government has set the ceiling price, including the Wholesale Price Index (WPI), at Rs 22.12 for one capsule. This means the MRP, including 12 per cent GST, should not exceed Rs 24.77 for one capsule. The raided firm was overcharging by Rs 57.30 for 10 capsules.

The raid was conducted by officers including Anjum Abida, assistant director, Rangareddy, and Raju Laxmalla Reddy, drug Inspector, Hayathnagar.
