Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu announced that the Congress government is actively working to fulfill its long-standing promises for the welfare of tribal communities. He said the party’s slogans about fighting for water, forest, land, and livelihood are now being turned into real action through effective governance in Telangana.
He stressed that the Congress needs to stay in power for at least 20 years to fully bring these ideals into law and transform the lives of marginalized groups.
Speaking at the launch of the ‘Indira Soura Giri Jala Vikasam’ scheme in Nagar Kurnool district, Bhatti said this new initiative will bring a positive shift in the lives of tribal farmers. The project aims to improve irrigation and farming in tribal regions.
With emotion, he spoke about how tribal families have suffered for generations. “They fought for survival in the forests, many gave their lives, but got nothing in return,” he said. Now, under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the Nallamala Declaration has been introduced to change that.
Bhatti promised that the government will fully implement the Nallamala Declaration across all tribal areas and show visible results within four years.
He described the ₹12,600 crore project as a bold move to uplift tribal children who have been left behind for decades. As part of the plan, tribal farmers will soon be able to grow high-value crops like avocados, which were once limited to wealthy growers.
These crops will take about two years to yield profits. Meanwhile, the Horticulture Department will provide free plants for intercropping, helping farmers earn income during the waiting period.
Bhatti also recalled the suffering faced by tribal people under the previous government. He said, “When they tried to cultivate land, women were tied to trees and beaten, and men were framed in false cases. We will not forget those injustices.”
He warned that any attempt to undermine the current administration will be treated as a threat to the people of the state.
Looking ahead, Bhatti revealed that on June 2, the government will allocate ₹1,000 crore under the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam Self-Employment Scheme to empower tribal youth.
He criticized the previous government for ignoring the basic needs of students in welfare hostels. In contrast, the Congress-led administration has increased diet charges by 40% and cosmetic allowances by 200%, ensuring better care for poor students.
