DLF Food Street in Gachibowli to Shut Down Soon

Hyderabad: The popular DLF Food Street in Gachibowli will soon close its doors. This busy spot, loved by IT professionals and food lovers, is shutting down due to a major road expansion project. The plan aims to reduce heavy traffic in the busy IT corridor.
The food street stretches over a kilometer and has more than 200 food stalls. It has been a favorite place for late-night snacks and gatherings. However, officials say that temporary stalls and parked cars block a big part of the road, causing traffic jams. A traffic officer noted that only 60% of commuters use this road in the evenings. The rest, about 40%, prefer other routes like the IIIT junction towards Miyapur.
To help the vendors, the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) is creating a relocation plan. Vendors will move to a new spot near ITC Kohenur Road, where there are already some stalls. They will get rental spaces and official ID cards. The relocation is expected to start in the next two to three weeks.
Many vendors are already preparing for the move. A fast-food stall owner shared that they are shifting to Madhapur. They will continue their business on a property owned by the same landlord. “Everything is ready. We plan to reopen next week,” he said.
The closure of DLF Food Street marks the end of an important era for Gachibowli’s vibrant street food culture. While this change will improve traffic and infrastructure, it also brings feelings of nostalgia for vendors and loyal customers who loved the bustling food scene.
