Hyderabad – The Telangana government has extended financial support to a grieving family who lost their young daughter to cancer. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy approved a relief amount of ₹7 lakh to help the parents of five-year-old Vedavalli, who died last year after battling blood cancer.
Vedavalli’s parents, Raghav and Manjula, live in LB Nagar. Their daughter was diagnosed with anaplastic large cell lymphoma, a rare and aggressive type of blood cancer, in 2022. Raghav, who works for a private company, spent nearly two years taking Vedavalli to different hospitals, hoping for a cure.
The family used up all their savings on medical bills. Despite their efforts, Vedavalli’s condition worsened and she passed away in late 2024.
Earlier that year, the case had come to the attention of the Chief Minister. He approved ₹8 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) to cover her treatment at Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital. Unfortunately, the funds arrived too late to save her.
After Vedavalli’s death, the family continued to struggle with leftover medical bills. Hearing about their ongoing hardship, CM Revanth Reddy stepped in again. He sanctioned another ₹7 lakh to help ease their financial burden.
On Thursday, the Chief Minister’s Officer on Special Duty (OSD), Vemula Srinivasulu, personally handed over the cheque to Raghav at the Secretariat. This gesture brings some relief to the family, who have endured both emotional and financial pain.
The state’s continued support highlights the government’s commitment to helping families in crisis, especially those dealing with the high costs of medical care for children with cancer.
