Gadwal: Farmers in Pulikal, located in the Aiza mandal of the Alampur constituency, are protesting by lying under trucks. They demand transport vehicles to shift their paddy bags. The absence of trucks has left tons of harvested paddy stuck at the center, unable to reach rice mills.
Farmers have repeatedly asked district and state officials for help, but no solution has come. With monsoon rains starting, they worry that their crops will get soaked and ruined, causing significant losses.
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader Kuruvu Pallayya criticized the Congress government and district officials for ignoring the issue. He spoke to the media at the protest, highlighting the farmers’ plight on Telangana Formation Day.
Pallayya said they’ve informed the Collector several times, but nothing has changed. He accused the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government of focusing on appearances rather than farmers’ problems. “Farmers in Telangana are suffering, yet the government remains indifferent,” he added.
Farmers report that their paddy has been weighed and packed in bags at the center. However, without transport trucks for days, the paddy remains exposed and at risk of rain damage. Recent rains in the district have heightened these fears.
Kuruvu Pallayya urged the government to send enough lorries to the Pulikal center immediately to move the stock to rice mills.
This situation reveals serious logistical issues in the state’s procurement process. While the government celebrated Telangana State Formation Day, Pulikal’s farmers faced neglect. The incident underscores the ongoing challenges for farmers and the need for timely government intervention at the local level.
