Hyderabad: The Telangana State Food Safety Department received several complaints about Absolute Barbeque restaurants. In response, a task force inspected 10 locations, uncovering significant hygiene issues.
The inspections took place at AS Rao Nagar, Kompally, Medipally, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Gachibowli, Inorbit, Miyapur, Vanasthalipuram, and Secunderabad. Each of these outlets failed to meet food safety standards.
Inspectors noted numerous violations. They found dirty utensils, unclean floors and wash areas, and fridges that had not been cleaned or defrosted. Banjara Hills and Gachibowli locations had cockroach and house fly infestations. At the Medipally outlet, expired food was discovered, while Inorbit had rotten fruits with fungi.
Other storage problems included food kept on the floor and near rat pads. The AS Rao Nagar branch had beetle-infested flour, and some locations had rat feces on storage racks. There were also issues with rusty and unhygienic storage conditions, as well as improper labeling and display according to the 2020 food safety regulations.
Following these findings, authorities seized various items, issued notices, collected samples, and initiated further actions against Absolute Barbeque.
