Hyderabad: The North Zone Team of the Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force, alongside Bandlaguda Police, has caught a group cheating poor people by pretending to offer government double bedroom flats. They seized 11 fake allotment papers, stamps, and Rs 5.5 lakh in cash. Mohd Ahmed, the gang leader, was arrested with Mohd Amjad, Kothakota Raj Kumar Reddy (a construction supervisor), and Mir Kousar Ali. The gang is linked to six cases reported in Bandlaguda, Amberpet, Bhavani Nagar, Madannapet, Mangalhat, and Golconda.
The suspects allegedly tricked 25 to 30 people, promising them flats under the Telangana State Government Scheme. They collected around Rs 42.35 lakh from these victims. Ahmed and Amjad devised a scheme to attract victims with fake promises of securing them flats, taking their money in return. To execute this, they collaborated with Raj, who worked at a government 2BHK construction site in Bandlaguda. They convinced victims they could get them flats, demanding sums from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1,70,000.
