Hyderabad: The Mayor of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, expressed her satisfaction with how the recent Ganesh immersion festivities were handled. She shared that the final immersion process went smoothly and peacefully, thanks to effective coordination among various departments. These departments worked together to ensure the celebrations took place without any major issues.
The Mayor praised the efforts of several teams, including GHMC officials, the police, sanitation workers, traffic management teams, the water board, and electricity services. All these groups played a key role in making sure the immersion process was conducted smoothly. She specifically highlighted the sanitation wing, which worked tirelessly around the clock, and expressed her gratitude for their hard work.
GHMC Commissioner Amrapali Kata also appreciated the efforts of the different departments involved. She mentioned that GHMC had made thorough arrangements for the immersion, which included setting up 73 temporary ponds. Additionally, 15,000 staff members from various departments such as UCD, Health, and sanitation worked in shifts to ensure the immersion process was completed successfully.
In preparation for the upcoming Milad-un-Nabi celebrations on Thursday, the commissioner gave instructions to the Zonal Commissioner to ensure cleanliness, especially in the Charminar zone. She suggested organizing the necessary vehicles to collect and dispose of garbage and waste in a proper manner, ensuring it is taken to the designated dump yard.
Amrapali Kata concluded by congratulating all GHMC officials, sanitation workers, and staff for their dedicated efforts in ensuring the peaceful and smooth completion of the Ganesh immersion.
