Hyderabad: The Ganesh immersion procession in the city ended peacefully, with no major incidents reported, according to Hyderabad City Police Commissioner CV Anand. This year’s event was particularly notable as it finished three hours earlier than last year. The Commissioner thanked the Ganesh Utsav Committee for their cooperation in ensuring a smooth and peaceful celebration.
The Commissioner mentioned that all the city roads were reopened for traffic earlier than usual. By 10:30 am on Wednesday, all major junctions and flyovers were cleared to ease the flow of vehicles. Over 1,000 Ganesh idols, which were transported on trucks, had reached Necklace Road and were immersed by the evening. Although the police had initially planned to complete the immersion by 6 or 7 am on Wednesday, a few delays occurred. These delays were due to non-cooperation from some pandal organizers, vehicle breakdowns, and large idols getting obstructed by electrical wires. CV Anand assured that next year, the police would take steps to ensure timely completion by coordinating with pandal organizers in advance.
In the early morning hours, CV Anand personally walked from MJ Market to Tank Bund to help speed up the procession by giving direct instructions. He noted that by 5 am, the situation was much better than the previous year, with the tail end of the procession already reaching MJ Market, and hundreds of vehicles on approach roads moving smoothly. He also praised the pandals in the south zone for their cooperation, as they moved their idols early and crossed Nayapul by 10:30 pm the previous night.
CV Anand expressed special thanks to the Khairatabad Ganesh Utsav Committee for working closely with the police to ensure the smooth immersion of the giant Ganesh idol by 1:30 pm on Tuesday. He added that 25,000 police personnel, including 15,000 from the city, were deployed to ensure the festival proceeded without any issues. The Commissioner also extended his gratitude to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and other government departments for their excellent coordination over the 11-day festival.
