Hyderabad: The Justice PC Ghose Commission investigating the Kaleshwaram project has been granted a 30-day extension. The new deadline to complete its probe is now May 31, and the final report must be submitted by June 30.
Last week, the Commission restarted its inquiry into the massive irrigation project. So far, it has compiled a detailed 400-page report focusing on the structural damage to the Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla barrages. The report also points to possible irregularities during the construction phase.
Key input for the Commission’s work came from the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA). Their final report played a major role in shaping the Commission’s findings.
Justice PC Ghose has also indicated that he may call key political figures for questioning. This includes K Chandrashekhar Rao, the former chief minister and BRS party leader, T Harish Rao, former irrigation minister, and BJP MP Eatala Rajendar. All three were heavily involved in the project’s development during the BRS government.
The investigation aims to uncover what went wrong with the Kaleshwaram project, one of the largest irrigation ventures in Telangana’s history.
