Hyderabad: Thousands of retired government workers gathered on Tuesday at Indira Park Dharna Chowk in a protest organized by the Telangana All Pensioners & Retired Persons Association (TAP&RPA). They came together to demand urgent action on long-standing issues faced by pensioners in the state.
The protest, called a Maha Dharna, was launched by TGEJAC General Secretary Eluri Srinivasa Rao. Alongside him, TAP&RPA State President Potula Narayana Reddy and General Secretary Palakurthi Krishnamurthy addressed the crowd. They announced plans for a larger state-wide campaign to fight for the rights of employees, teachers, and retirees.
Leaders revealed that they had already sent official requests to nine key departments. These departments are responsible for solving problems that affect 27 different government sectors. They warned that if the government does not respond, the voices of 1.3 million pensioners will grow louder and more determined. Many retirees could lose trust in the government and show their displeasure in the next election.
Former MLC A Narsi Reddy strongly criticized the Central government. He said that their orders are interfering with the smooth functioning of state administrations. He called on the government to stop playing with public emotions and instead focus on solving real problems.
CITU leader V S Rao also spoke at the event. He accused the government of favoring corporate companies and contractors over the needs of workers, pensioners, and public employees. According to him, this approach could push people to remove the current administration, just like they did with the one before.
The protest sent a clear message—without immediate action, dissatisfaction among pensioners and employees could turn into a powerful statewide movement.
