Hyderabad: The Central Government has approved the development of the Ramappa and Somashila tourist circuits in Telangana with a budget of ₹142 crore. This announcement was made by Union Minister for Coal and Mines, G Kishan Reddy, on Friday.
The funds will be provided under the Special Assistance to States and Union Territories for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme. This decision is part of 40 projects across 23 states, with a total estimated cost of ₹3,295.76 crore. These projects aim to create world-class tourist destinations, boost local economies, and provide employment opportunities through sustainable tourism. The assistance will come as interest-free loans with a repayment tenure of 50 years.
In Telangana, ₹74 crore will be allocated to develop Ramappa as part of a Sustainable Tourism Circuit, and ₹68 crore will go toward transforming Somashila into a Wellness and Spiritual Retreat. The goals include reducing overcrowding in popular tourist spots, improving infrastructure, and enhancing visitor experiences. Advanced technologies, sustainable practices, and public-private partnerships will play key roles in these initiatives.
Kishan Reddy expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister of Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat for their support. He highlighted the government’s commitment to preserving and promoting Telangana’s cultural and historical heritage. Projects like the Sangeet Natak Academy Regional Centre, Epigraphy Museum, Mint Museum, and Komaram Bheem Tribal Museum are part of these efforts.
