Hyderabad: Focus on Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Temple
After the renovation of the Yadagirigutta temple, the government is now focusing on the Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy temple in Vemulawada. This year, they have allocated Rs 500 crore for its makeover.
Previously, Rs 200 crore was allocated for the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple at Yadagirigutta. Now, the Vemulawada shrine is receiving a larger amount for various development activities planned over the coming year. The government has created the Vemulawada Temple Area Development Authority (VTDA) under the Telangana Urban Areas (Development) Act, 1975. This body will oversee the development of the temple complex, six surrounding villages, and seven R&R colonies, as well as the Vemulawada Municipality.
Officials report that the government has already spent Rs 77.90 crore on the temple and its surrounding areas. The VTDA has prepared a draft master plan for further development. The base map for VTDA is being prepared, and the master plan is in progress with consultation from town and country planning departments. The DTCP has approved a plan to widen the internal road to the temple to 80 feet. Additionally, 35 acres of private land have been acquired for temple expansion, and compensation has been paid to the landowners.
The district collector is also working on acquiring land for the expansion of the Baddi Pochamma temple. The government has passed the award and provided compensation for 4,704 square yards of land. Rs 5 crore has been allocated for a new pipeline from Nampalli to the Vemulawada temple. This pipeline will help construct a 1,100 kl sump at the temple to meet the drinking water needs of pilgrims under Mission Bhagiratha. Officials confirm that this work is complete.
Other proposed activities in Vemulawada and surrounding areas include constructing a bus station, cottages, a pilgrim facilitation center, the Veda Pathashala, Baddi Pochamma Temple, and Nampalligutta.
