Suryapet: Farmers in Suryapet are being encouraged to make full use of the grain procurement centres set up by the government. These centres aim to ensure that farmers receive the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their harvested grain. The advice came from Gattu Srinivas Gupta, Vice Chairman of the Suryapet Agriculture Market, during the inauguration of new procurement centres.
On Tuesday, Gupta opened several centres under the IKP program at Imampet 1, Imampet 2, and Kesarum in Suryapet mandal. Another centre was also opened in Tekumatla village under the NDCMS scheme.
During the event, Gupta advised farmers not to rely on middlemen and instead sell their grain directly at these government-run centres. He explained that the MSP is ₹2,320 per quintal for A-grade grain and ₹2,300 for B-grade grain.
He also highlighted the progress made by the Congress government, stating that it has achieved in one year what the previous BRS government could not do in ten years. He promised to raise any issues related to grain transport or other problems at the procurement centres with Telangana State Tourism Development Chairman Patel Ramesh Reddy and seek quick solutions from the state government.
Additionally, Gupta mentioned that the Congress government is now providing fine quality rice through ration shops. This initiative is meant to ensure that even low-income families can enjoy the same quality of rice as wealthier households.
