A critical organ transplant operation is underway in Hyderabad as live lungs are being airlifted from Bengaluru to save a patient’s life. The organs are scheduled to land at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Hyderabad at 2:20 PM today. The Hyderabad City Police has activated a green corridor to ensure the swift and safe transportation of the organs from the airport to the hospital.
The ambulance bearing registration number TS09UD8472 will carry the precious cargo from RGIA to KIMS Hospitals located on Minister Road, Secunderabad. Police authorities have coordinated to provide an unobstructed route for the ambulance, minimizing travel time to ensure the organs remain viable for transplantation. Green corridors are established during such emergency medical situations to create a clear path for vehicles transporting organs or critically ill patients.
Citizens along the route have been requested to cooperate with traffic authorities and give way to the ambulance carrying the life-saving organs. The success of organ transplants heavily depends on the time taken to transport organs from the donor location to the recipient, as organs have a limited window of viability outside the human body. Lungs, in particular, require swift transportation to maintain their condition for successful transplantation.
The Hyderabad City Police issued a public appeal urging residents to support the green corridor initiative and help facilitate the smooth movement of the ambulance. Such coordinated efforts between medical facilities, aviation authorities, and law enforcement agencies are crucial in organ transplant procedures. The police have emphasized that public cooperation can make a significant difference in saving a life during such time-sensitive medical emergencies.
