Siddipet: On Monday, T Harish Rao, a senior leader in the BRS, criticized the government for spending on beauty contests while neglecting the supply of seeds and fish seedlings. He questioned the Chief Minister about the intended beneficiaries of these contests.
Rao, alongside Banda Prakash, Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council, unveiled statues of Panduga Sayanna and Korivi Krishna Swamy in Palamakula village, Nangunuru mandal. He stressed the importance of drawing inspiration from these figures. Swamy, as Hyderabad’s first mayor, significantly aided the Mudiraj community, while Sayanna’s selfless fight for the poor made him a role model. Constable Kishtayya, who sacrificed for the Telangana movement, is now a historical figure. Former CM KCR supported Kishtayya’s family by ensuring his daughter pursued medical studies.
Rao explained that the BRS government improved livelihoods by connecting tanks to projects through Mission Kakatiya and completing major projects like Kaleshwaram under KCR. He stated that Rs 1,000 crore was spent on providing boats, autos, and nets for the Mudiraj community, and Rs 120 crore annually on free fish and prawn seedlings. Yet, after the Congress came to power, many tanks remain unstocked, and tenders for fish seedlings are delayed, risking the community’s livelihoods.
He criticized the government for failing to supply seeds and fish seedlings. Rao noted that tenders worth Rs 10,000 crore were issued by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board, Rs 7,000 crore by GHMC, and Rs 20 crore by HMDA. He accused Revanth Reddy of land purchases in Future City and questioned the funding for a Rs 4,000 crore six-lane road. Rao alleged that tenders worth Rs 1 lakh crore were floated for corrupt gains, warning that the public would eventually respond.
In the Siddipet constituency, Rao emphasized that each village has a Pedamma temple or a Mudiraj community hall. He mentioned constructing a Rs 10 crore AC function hall in Siddipet and praised the Mudiraj community and Palamakula youth for their efforts in installing the statues.
