Hyderabad: The Health Minister, C Damodara Rajanarsimha, has asked the Managing Director of the Telangana Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation to investigate a recent power interruption at MGM Hospital in Warangal. The report should be submitted within 24 hours to determine if anyone is responsible for the lapse.

On May 21, at 6:15 pm, there was a power supply interruption at MGM Hospital due to issues with the breakers between the main HT lines and MGM power lines. Thankfully, backup generators at the hospital ensured that patient care areas, including emergency rooms, operation theaters, patient wards, and more, continued to have power.

Patients in the dialysis wing were able to continue their treatment thanks to battery backup. By 9 pm, the power supply at MGM Hospital was fully restored after repairs were made to the HT lines and defective breakers by the NPDCL engineering team.

The Health Minister held a review meeting at 11 am on Wednesday with health officials and directed the MD to send engineers to inspect all government hospitals in the state within a week. They will assess backup power systems to ensure they are functioning properly, especially with the monsoon season approaching, to prevent similar incidents in the future.
