Heavy rainfall has caused severe flooding in the Godavari region, especially at the Kaleshwaram Triveni confluence. Here, the Godavari and Pranahita rivers are dangerously high, surpassing warning levels. Floodwaters have submerged the areas around Gnanasaraswati and Pushkara Ghats in Kaleshwaram.
The flooding has heavily impacted crops in villages near the Godavari catchment. Water has covered farmland in Mahadevpur mandal, affecting hundreds of acres of cotton in Annaram, Chandrapalli, Nagepalli, Maddulapalli, Palugula, and Balijapur. Local farmers, suffering cotton crop losses for the second year, are calling for government aid and compensation.
The Medigadda barrage in the Kaleshwaram project is experiencing pressure, with 971,880 cusecs of water being released downstream. Currently, 85 gates are open. The community awaits updates and relief efforts as the situation evolves.
