Hyderabad faced severe waterlogging on Thursday morning following heavy rain on Wednesday night. This caused major traffic problems and difficulties for residents. Many homes in low-lying areas were flooded. The rain coincided with the reopening of schools, creating challenges for children trying to reach school. Many students and parents had to navigate through waterlogged streets.
The heavy rain started late at night, mostly affecting the western and southern parts of the city. Areas on the outskirts received rain until the early hours. Residents woke up to flooded streets, waterlogged cellars, and fallen tree branches.
In the old city, several roads were submerged. Motorists had to move through knee-deep water in areas like Engine Bowli, Chatrinaka, Uppuguda, Bandlaguda, Khilwat Road, Aghapura, and Bahadurpura. Many two-wheelers broke down during the morning school rush.
In the western city, Chandanagar experienced floodwaters entering a shopping complex’s cellars. Lingampally faced major traffic disruptions due to a heavily waterlogged railway underpass. In Serilingampally, the road from the Revenue Office to BHEL was severely flooded, leaving two-wheelers half-submerged.
