Hyderabad: The Jeedimetla police have arrested a well-known house burglar involved in more than 30 theft cases. The police recovered stolen property worth around Rs 11.5 lakh during the investigation. The case was solved using CCTV footage, technical tracking, and checking information from a database of known suspects.
The arrested person is Begari Venu Kumar, a 26-year-old auto driver. He, along with his associates, was involved in thefts reported at several police stations in the Cyberabad area.
Venu Kumar has been to jail multiple times. He was also previously involved in cases under the POCSO Act and the NDPS Act. In the past, he was detained under the PD Act by Cyberabad Police and spent a year in jail.
The investigation began after Ratan Chandra Mandal filed a complaint. He reported that on the night between March 5 and 6, some unknown people broke into the house of his brother-in-law, Pintu. They entered by breaking a window near the main door and stole gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 10 lakh.
Police registered the case and started investigating. They checked footage from over 160 CCTV cameras along possible escape routes. By comparing the method of theft with those used in past cases and matching with known suspects, they were able to identify and arrest the thief.
The police team’s technical skills, hard work, and teamwork played a key role in solving the case and recovering the stolen property. The Cyberabad Police Commissioner praised their efforts and rewarded the officers for their excellent work.
