Hyderabad Book Fair Draws Record-Breaking Crowds

Organisers reported a 30-40% increase in visitors compared to last year, which saw around 8,000 attendees. The fair also hosted over 350 stalls, featuring books in multiple languages, including Telugu, English, Tamil, and other regional languages. Authors from across India and abroad showcased their works. During the event, more than 25 books and 10 poetry collections were launched, alongside cultural programmes performed by school students.

Dr. Yakoob, the president of the Book Fair, shared his excitement about the growing enthusiasm among visitors. “This year, we saw a significant increase in response, with young children frequently exploring the book stalls,” he said. The fair also featured daily literary sessions, book launches, and two stages for discussions, including a popular amphitheatre. Additionally, a donation box was introduced for the first time, collecting around 5,000 books to distribute to libraries and schools in rural areas.

Stall owners were equally thrilled with the event’s success, noting that sales were significantly higher than in previous years. Many vendors reported strong profits and expressed their satisfaction at the large crowds, which began flocking to the fair from day one.

The Hyderabad Book Fair continues to be a vibrant celebration of literature, culture, and community, leaving both organisers and attendees eager for next year’s edition.
