The city police introduced the EYES Team and the Advanced City Surveillance Grid Management Protocol on Thursday. This new system aims to keep over 16,000 police CCTVs and 50,000 private cameras running smoothly with quick response technology.
Commissioner VC Sajjanar called this a significant improvement, ensuring minimal downtime for a vast network of cameras, including one lakh Nenu Saitam cameras, body cams, and future drones.
To fix technical issues promptly, each zone will have two EYES squads with 10 two-wheelers, four cars, and a crane. These teams will cut repair times from days to hours. A 24/7 Camera Support Call Centre will record issues, while RFID-tagged stores and an on-site Repair Centre will keep spare parts ready, making maintenance proactive.
A Technology Due Diligence Team will set high equipment standards and explore new tech from top companies. A Data Analytics Team will turn live video into useful dashboards for real-time policing. A special CSR Desk will encourage public support through the “Donate a Camera, Build a Safer Street” drive. The Christian Leaders Forum has already donated Rs 4 lakh, presented by Central Zone DCP Shilpavalli.
Commissioner Sajjanar urged citizens to install CCTV cameras, warning wrongdoers that “these eyes never blink,” ensuring that every street and shadow is monitored.
The launch event included senior officials like Addl. CP Crime M. Srinivasulu and DCPs from various zones, including North Zone DCP S. Rashmi Perumal and South West Zone DCP G. Chandramohan.
