Hyderabad: The Hyderabad city police have implemented new rules to maintain public order and prevent disturbances around the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat. Starting from November 11, public gatherings, protests, and dharnas are banned within a 500-meter radius of the Secretariat.

This decision was made by Commissioner CV Anand, under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). The law prohibits gatherings of five or more people, processions, rallies, public meetings, and any display of symbols or messages that could cause public unrest. The ban will stay in place until further notice.

However, the Commissioner clarified that peaceful protests and dharnas are still allowed, but only at the Indira Park Dharna Chowk. Protests at any other location in Hyderabad or Secunderabad are not allowed.

The Commissioner also warned that anyone who violates these rules within the restricted area around the Secretariat will face legal action. Exceptions to the ban include on-duty police officers, military personnel, funeral processions, religious activities, festivals, and groups with special permission from the authorities.
