Hyderabad: On December 12, VC Sajjanar, the Commissioner of Police in Hyderabad, set rules for hotels, clubs, and bars that serve alcohol on New Year’s Eve.
These venues must get permission to stay open past midnight. They should apply at least 15 days before December 31.
According to the Telangana Public Safety rules, organizers must have working CCTV cameras at parking areas and entrances/exits. Security staff should manage traffic effectively.
Outdoor music equipment like loudspeakers and DJ booths must shut down by 10 PM, following Supreme Court guidelines. Indoor venues can play loud music until 1:00 a.m., but it should not exceed 45 decibels.
Management must ensure decent attire and avoid obscenity or nudity. Drugs and narcotics are strictly banned.
Ticket sales should be controlled to prevent crowd issues. Minors are not allowed at events meant for couples in pubs and bars.
Venues must provide safe transport options for customers who have been drinking, ensuring they can safely get home.
Fireworks are banned. Venues must follow the District Fire Department‘s rules.
Driving under the influence is illegal under the Motor Vehicles Act. Anyone with a blood alcohol level over 30 mg will face charges.
Penalties include a Rs 10,000 fine and/or six months in jail. Licenses may be suspended for three months or permanently.
If a minor is caught driving or in an accident, the vehicle owner will be held accountable. Two-wheelers should not have silencers removed. Overspeeding, reckless driving, and racing in public areas are also punishable under Sections 183 and 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
