Hyderabad experienced its coldest morning of the season on the second consecutive day of an intense cold wave sweeping across the city and surrounding areas. Residents woke up to biting cold temperatures, with several locations recording single-digit readings.
The outskirts of Hyderabad bore the brunt of the cold wave. Ibrahimpatnam recorded the lowest temperature at 7.6°C, making it the coldest spot in the city limits. Other peripheral areas also witnessed significantly low temperatures during the early morning hours.
HCU Serlingampally recorded 8°C, followed closely by Rajendranagar at 8.5°C. Industrial and residential areas across the city reported temperatures well below normal levels. BHEL registered 9.4°C, while Gachibowli recorded 10.8°C and Sivarampalle stood at 10.9°C.
Central and northern parts of Hyderabad also experienced the cold spell. Qutbullapur recorded 11.5°C, West Maredpally 11.6°C, and Alwal 12°C. The southern areas of the city were marginally warmer but still significantly cold, with Kishanbagh at 12.3°C, Chandanagar at 12.5°C, and Bahadurpura at 12.6°C.
Heritage and commercial zones were not spared from the cold wave. Karwan, Himayatnagar, Charminar, and LB Stadium all recorded identical temperatures of 12.8°C. Other areas including Lingampally at 13°C, Golkonda at 13.2°C, Begumpet at 13.3°C, Malkajgiri at 13.8°C, and Mehdipatnam at 14°C also experienced chilly conditions.
Across Telangana, several districts recorded even lower temperatures. KB Asifabad and Sangareddy topped the list with 6.6°C each, followed by Adilabad at 6.7°C and Vikarabad at 7.5°C. Rangareddy district recorded 7.6°C, while Kamareddy stood at 7.9°C.
Other districts experiencing severe cold included Medak at 8.1°C, and Siddipet, Nirmal, and Nizamabad all recording 8.4°C. Mahabubnagar registered 8.6°C, rounding out the list of coldest locations in the state.
The cold wave has prompted residents to take precautions, with increased use of warm clothing and heating devices across the affected areas.
