Hyderabad-based aerospace and defence company Sigma Advanced Systems has completed the acquisition of a 100% stake in Nasmyth Group, a leading UK-based precision engineering firm. The deal, valued at Rs 213 crore in cash, marks a significant expansion for the Indian company into the global aerospace and defence manufacturing sector. Nasmyth Group is recognized as a tier-1 precision engineering partner to major global original equipment manufacturers.
The UK-based firm maintains strong business relationships with prominent aerospace and defence industry leaders including Rolls-Royce, GE, Siemens, Airbus, BAE Systems, Safran, Lockheed Martin and Boeing. Beyond the initial acquisition amount, Sigma Advanced Systems has announced plans to invest an additional Rs 450 crore to expand and strengthen the operations of the acquired business, according to a company statement released on January 14, 2026.
Following the completion of the acquisition, Nasmyth Group will maintain its existing brand identity and continue operations under its current leadership team. This strategic decision aims to ensure business continuity and maintain established relationships with existing customers and partners. Sigma Advanced Systems will provide comprehensive group-level support in areas including engineering services, research and development, product development and financial planning.
The company stated that programmes will continue to be originated and managed in proximity to Western original equipment manufacturers, reflecting Nasmyth’s established programme-level engagement with global OEMs and tier-1 suppliers. The acquisition strategy focuses on combining Nasmyth’s customer proximity in Western markets with India’s cost-efficient and talent-rich manufacturing capabilities to deliver high-complexity, safety-critical components and systems across aerospace, defence and emerging technologies.
Sunil Kumar Kalidindi, CEO of Sigma Advanced Systems, commented on the acquisition stating it represents a defining step in the company’s growth trajectory. He emphasized that Nasmyth brings deep engineering expertise, decades of established trust with leading OEMs, long-term contracts and close customer proximity across key Western markets. The combined entity aims to create a stronger platform that enhances capabilities and scale, enabling better support for global aerospace and defence customers with greater resilience and higher execution certainty.
The acquisition provides Sigma Advanced Systems with access to Nasmyth’s advanced engineering capabilities, multi-year relationships with global OEMs and an established manufacturing and customer-facing presence in the UK and Europe. It also facilitates the transfer of advanced manufacturing technologies to India, including precision machining of hard metals and superalloys, aerospace-grade fabrication and welding, and complex systems integration. This acquisition significantly accelerates Sigma’s timeline to scale high-criticality aerospace and defence manufacturing operations.
Nasmyth Group reported revenues of approximately Rs 728 crore for the 12 months ended April 2025. The company operates multiple manufacturing facilities in the United Kingdom, along with one facility in India. The group specializes in complex precision engineering, advanced metal treatments and special processes that meet stringent aerospace and defence industry standards.
Sigma Advanced Systems currently manufactures critical components for missile programmes including Konkurs, Invar and Akash, as well as LRSAM and MRSAM systems. Its product portfolio also includes avionics for fighter aircraft and helicopters, components for warships and submarines, and multi-range radar systems. The company noted that building and certifying aerospace-grade special processes typically requires several years, and the acquisition of Nasmyth effectively advances its strategic roadmap by integrating a business that already operates to global aerospace standards.
