HYDRAA took action on Monday by clearing illegal huts around Sunnam Cheruvu. This move caused anger among some locals, leading to protests.
The owners of these structures argued that HYDRAA‘s actions were unfair and violated their rights.
Recently, HYDRAA referred to a Pollution Control Board report, which indicated that these illegal constructions were polluting the lake.
With police support, HYDRAA began dismantling the structures early in the morning. They demolished around 50 to 70 huts, along with water tanks and bore wells in the vicinity.
Last week, some individuals demonstrated at the lake, claiming they had land documents proving ownership.
On Monday, certain landowners expressed frustration, claiming that HYDRAA ignored court orders and encroached on their property.
Sunnam Cheruvu spans approximately 32.6 acres and is situated between Guttal Begumpet and Allapur villages, close to the Serilingampally and Kukatpally areas.
